At the age of 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing, Contractor decided to take up acting as a profession. She received a full-scholarship grant to study at the University of Toronto after graduating. She earned a master's in theatre, as well as a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was cast in her first show after a year of university. After 92 performances, she received praise from the audience. The production was recognized as one of the most successful productions in Canada by critics. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males, four women and a handful of others for a week crash course. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season of plays was confirmed, and she received the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
